The James Webb Space Telescope is the most powerful and complex space telescope ever built. It is designed to observe distant exoplanets at the birth of the first galaxies. With its 18 hexagonal mirror segments, the telescope has a spatial resolution 7 times greater than that of the Hubble Space Telescope. The James Webb Space Telescope enables unprecedented discoveries and images of the cosmos, allowing scientists to observe the universe in greater depth than ever before. 
James Edwin Webb was the second administrator of NASA, serving from 14 February 1961 to 7 October 1968.
