The solar system consists of the Sun and all the objects that orbit around it under the influence of gravity. It includes:

Dwarf planets (such as Pluto)
Asteroids, comets and meteoroids
The Sun is at the centre and provides the light and energy that enable life on Earth. The solar system is part of the Milky Way and is estimated to be around 4.6 billion years old.
