The International Space Station (ISS) is located in low Earth orbit, approximately 400 kilometres above the Earth's surface. It serves as a unique microgravity laboratory where scientists and astronauts from around the world conduct experiments in a wide range of scientific disciplines. The ISS is also a crucial platform for testing and developing technologies that will enable future deep space exploration missions. It is a collaborative effort between NASA, Roscosmos, ESA, JAXA and CSA.
