The Orion spacecraft is NASA's manned spacecraft designed to carry up to four astronauts to the Moon and, eventually, to Mars as part of the Artemis programme.
It is designed for missions beyond low Earth orbit, with up to approximately 21 days of active, independent operation, plus several months attached to another habitat such as the Gateway lunar station.
Orion is launched aboard NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) ‘mega moon rocket,’ which provides the energy needed to escape Earth's gravity and head for the Moon.
