A cross-section of the human eye reveals its complex structure, adapted to capturing and focusing light to form images on the retina.

The human eye consists of three main layers: the outer fibrous layer (sclera at the back, transparent cornea at the front), the middle vascular layer (choroid, ciliary body, iris) and the inner nerve layer (retina).
The cornea and lens focus light, while the iris adjusts the pupil to regulate light entry.
